I was always a “big” girl. Always the tallest in my class etc. My father called me thunder thighs for as long as I could remember. I gained about 80 pounds after a battle with cancer when I was 18. I survived and got fat and happy from the steroids. When the treatment ended the weight didn’t go away. I was about 270 when I met my husband. We met at the Colorado Renaissance Festival. We were both energetic performers and quickly fell for each other. He was unlike any man I had ever met. He was kind and loving and funny as hell. I found myself following him around on our weekends at the festival and very soon I knew that he would be the man I would spend the rest of my life with. We were married on September 13th, 1997. At that time I was unable to find hardly any wedding dresses to fit my size 22 frame. I rented a dress and decided all that mattered was that I had the man of my dreams and was in love.
We traveled and spent a lot of time with each other. We have always been as loyal and kind to each other as possible.. That was 13 years ago. This February after much debate and decision making I gave birth to beautiful boy/girl twins. I am amazingly lucky to have the life I have. I have a wonderful husband and perfect and beautiful children. Though we have had our challenges over the years things seem to always work out for us. I cannot wait to see where life takes us and look forward to all the adventures we will have as a family. I can’t wait to take my children with me and show them the world my husband and I fell in love with.
My husband loved me at 270. He loves me now at 216. He will always love me as I am and I will love him as he is. We are healthy, happy and stronger together.
